China Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan (CELAJ) is located in Jinggangshan, the “cradle of the Chinese revolution”. The construction of the campus was started on Jun. 6, 2003, completed at the end of 2004 and put into use in Mar. 2005. The campus covers an area of 44 acres, with a floor space of 60,000 square meters and a total accommodation capacity of 500 trainees. The main buildings include No.1 trainee building, No.2 trainee building, No.3 trainee building, the library, the teaching building, the academic building, the expert building and the complex building for logistics, all of which are fully-equipped.
　　The founding of CELAJ is a strategic decision of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPCCC) to advance the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the grand initiative for Party building of the CPC, and an important move to strengthen leadership education and to build high-quality leadership in China. CPCCC attaches great importance to the building and development of CELAJ. Xi Jinping inspected CELAJ and made important instructions on the academy’s work in Oct. 2008. Jiang Zemin inscribed the name for the academy when the construction of the campus started. When CELAJ officially opened, Hu Jintao sent over a congratulatory letter, placing high expectations on its development. Zeng Qinghong undertook the preparatory work of the academy and proposed explicit training requirements. He Guoqiang and Li Yuanchao repeatedly inspected the academy and made instructions on the academy’s work when they were the presidents of the academy. During its construction and development, the academy gained continuous support from many ministries of the CPCCC, Jiangxi provincial committee of the CPC, Jiangxi provincial government as well as the local committee of the CPC and government, ensuring a favorable training condition of CELAJ.
　　CELAJ is a state-level training base conducting education in the field of CPC history, Party building theory, revolutionary tradition and basic national conditions for Party and government officials, enterprise managers, specialists and military officers. As required by CPCCC, CELAJ plays the role of building up itself into a base for revolutionary tradition education and basic national condition education; into a gas station for stimulating Party cadres to keep their revolutionary fervor; into a furnace for raising the overall quality and abilities of the leadership and into a window for international exchange and cooperation, by following the principles of seeking truth from facts, keeping pace with the times, maintaining the style of arduous struggle and exercising state power for the people. CELAJ is funded by the central government and supervised by the Organization Department of the CPCCC. Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee assists in management and the academy council is in charge of the daily activities. Zhao Leji, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Secretariat of the CPCCC, head of the Organization Department of the CPCCC, assumes the post of Council Director-General and President of CELAJ; Deputy head of the Organization Department of the CPCCC Gao Xuanming, Executive Deputy Director-General of the Councils of CELAJ; Deputy secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee Yao Zenke, first Vice President of CELAJ; Mei Liming, the Executive Vice President of CELAJ; Kuang Sheng, Ke Hua and Wang Jianxin, Vice Presidents of CELAJ. CELAJ includes six bureau-level departments: the General Office, Department of Teaching Affairs, Department of Training, Department of Teaching and Science Research (Case Development Center), Department of International Exchanges and Program Developing, and Department of Human Resources(Party Committee of the Institution), consisting of a total of 27 divisions.
　　Since its inception, CELAJ holds high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, adheres to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, "Three Represents" and the scientific concept of development as guidance, takes in-depth study and implemnents the spirit of General Secretary of CPCCC Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches, enhances the “four consciousness”, persists in the “four confidences”, firmly upholds the authority of the CPCCC with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, sticks to the principles of “Party school serves for the Party”, and leads a sustainable and steady development path characterized by high-quality, openness, clear distinction. By making full use of the red resources in Jinggangshan and surrounding areas, CELAJ has formed a special and widely received short-term cadre training system --- centered on the education of Party spirit, Party conduct and Party discipline, the education of revolutionary tradition, the Party's advanced nature and purity, and the national condition as the main training content, site-visit as the main training mode combined with lecture, audio-video teaching, case study, interview, social practice and symposium.
　　From Mar. 20, 2005, the day on which the academy officially started training programs, to May, 2017, CELAJ had organized a total of 1,607 training programs and 81,455 participants turned out for them. CELAJ endeavors to be the training base of the education of Party spirit, Party conduct and Party discipline, faith in communism, and morals for cadres, and to be a new-type cadre training academy with distinguishing feature in China, and considerable influence around the world.
